After the loss of their fellow officer, an army battalion must cope with loss while continuing their dangerous mission which ultimately challenges their thoughts about the military, their beliefs about themselves, and the value of life. As they deal with the traumas in their own ways, their leader, Sergeant Johnson finds himself reliving the fateful night which he believes led to the death of the officer and blames himself. His mental health begins to spiral, making his team question his leadership ability as he begins to go off the edge. In the end, the group is forced to rally behind the rookie of the group, Michael Reed, a young and stubborn soldier who is a natural born leader but strongly disagrees with the system of the military and how it treats their men and women. After Sergeant Johnson commits suicide, Reed makes a promise to his fallen brother to continue the fight and get his troops home. The story is a testament to the mental struggles that our soldiers deal with while on the battlefield and even when they come back home in the States.
