Based on true events, The Ripper follows a veteran detective, Madelyn Front, who is pushed to new heights by a serial killer who uses blackface to kill and terrorize black women while at the same time incriminating black men in the community. After a series of murders captures the attention of the nation, Madelyn must work with a young and hot-headed detective, Luke Brown to find hidden messages and find the culprit behind the deaths of almost 14 black women in the city of Atlanta.

 

Immersed deep within the story, Madelyn uncovers racial dynamics that force her to rethink what being a black crime detective means. The Ripper is a story that challenges how we perceive a threat as well as it challenges the notion of what makes a serial killer dangerous to the public’s eye.
